The paper deals with the homogenization of random heterogeneous media with arbitrarily shaped inclusions simulated with the extended finite element method (XFEM) coupled with Monte Carlo simulation (MCS). The implementation of XFEM is particularly suitable for this type of problems since there is no need to generate a new finite element mesh at each MCS. The inclusions are randomly distributed and oriented within the medium while their shape is implicitly modeled by the iso-zero of an analytically defined random level set function, which also serves as the enrichment function in the framework of XFEM. Homogenization is performed based on Hill’s energy condition and MCS. The homogenization involves the generation of a large number of random realizations of the microstructure geometry based on a given volume fraction of the inclusions and other parameters (shape, spatial distribution and orientation). The influence of the inclusion shape on the effective properties of the random media is highlighted. It is shown that the statistical characteristics of the effective properties can be significantly affected by the shape of the inclusions especially in the case of large volume fraction and stiffness ratio.  相似文献

We consider weighted linear congestion games, and investigate how social ignorance, namely lack of information about the presence of some players, affects the inefficiency of pure Nash equilibria (PNE) and the convergence rate of the ε-Nash dynamics. To this end, we adopt the model of graphical linear congestion games with weighted players, where the individual cost and the strategy selection of each player only depends on his neighboring players in the social graph. We show that such games admit a potential function, and thus a PNE. Next, we investigate the Price of Anarchy (PoA) and the Price of Stability (PoS) of graphical linear congestion games with respect to the players’ total actual cost. Our main result is that the impact of social ignorance on the PoA and on the PoS is naturally quantified by the independence number α(G) of the social graph G. In particular, we show that the PoA grows roughly as α(G)(α(G)+2), which is essentially tight as long as α(G) does not exceed half the number of players, and that the PoS lies between α(G) and 2α(G). Moreover, we show that the ε-Nash dynamics reaches an α(G)(α(G)+2)-approximate configuration in polynomial time that does not directly depend on the social graph. For unweighted graphical linear games with symmetric strategies, we show that the ε-Nash dynamics reaches an ε-approximate PNE in polynomial time that exceeds the corresponding time for symmetric linear games by a factor at most as large as the number of players.  相似文献

Anti-SPIT policies counter the SPam over Internet Telephony (SPIT) by distinguishing bots launching unsolicited bulks of VoIP calls from human beings. We propose an Anti-SPIT Policy Management mechanism (aSPM) that detects spam calls and prevents VoIP session establishment by the Session Initiation Protocol (SIP). The SPIN model checker is used to formally model and analyze the robustness of the aSPM mechanism in execution scenarios with parallel SIP sessions. In case of a possible design flaw, the model checker provides a trace of the caught unexpected behavior (counterexample), that can be used for the revision of the mechanism’s design. Our SPIN model is parameterized, based on measurements from experiments with VoIP users. Non-determinism plays a key role in representing all possible anti-SPIT policy decisions, in terms of the SIP messages that may be exchanged. The model checking results provide evidence for the timeliness of the parallel SIP sessions, the absence of deadlocks or livelocks, and the fairness for the VoIP service users. These findings ensure robust anti-SPIT protection, meaning that the aSPM mechanism operates as expected, despite the occurrence of random SPIT calls and communication error messages. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first analysis for exhaustively searching security policy flaws, due to complex interactions between anti-SPIT measures and the SIP protocol services.  相似文献

Survival of Lactobacillus plantarum in model solutions and fruit juices   总被引:1,自引:0,他引:1  
The aim of the work was to study the survival of Lactobacillus plantarum NCIMB 8826 in model solutions and develop a mathematical model describing its dependence on pH, citric acid and ascorbic acid. A Central Composite Design (CCD) was developed studying each of the three factors at five levels within the following ranges, i.e., pH (3.0-4.2), citric acid (6-40 g/L), and ascorbic acid (100-1000 mg/L). In total, 17 experimental runs were carried out. The initial cell concentration in the model solutions was approximately 1 × 108 CFU/mL; the solutions were stored at 4 °C for 6 weeks. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) of the stepwise regression demonstrated that a second order polynomial model fits well the data. The results demonstrated that high pH and citric acid concentration enhanced cell survival; one the other hand, ascorbic acid did not have an effect. Cell survival during storage was also investigated in various types of juices, including orange, grapefruit, blackcurrant, pineapple, pomegranate, cranberry and lemon juice. The model predicted well the cell survival in orange, blackcurrant and pineapple, however it failed to predict cell survival in grapefruit and pomegranate, indicating the influence of additional factors, besides pH and citric acid, on cell survival. Very good cell survival (less than 0.4 log decrease) was observed after 6 weeks of storage in orange, blackcurrant and pineapple juice, all of which had a pH of about 3.8. Cell survival in cranberry and pomegranate decreased very quickly, whereas in the case of lemon juice, the cell concentration decreased approximately 1.1 logs after 6 weeks of storage, albeit the fact that lemon juice had the lowest pH (pH ~ 2.5) among all the juices tested. Taking into account the results from the compositional analysis of the juices and the model, it was deduced that in certain juices, other compounds seemed to protect the cells during storage; these were likely to be proteins and dietary fibre In contrast, in certain juices, such as pomegranate, cell survival was much lower than expected; this could be due to the presence of antimicrobial compounds, such as phenolic compounds.  相似文献

采用酶-弱酸解两段法从三倍体毛白杨原料木粉中分离出原料木素。通过凝胶渗透色谱分析(GPc),对原料木素试样分别进行了分子量的检测,得出原料木素的分子量分布,计算出原料木素质均和数均分子量。经过衍生化后的原料木素,可以通过磷谱核磁共振(51P--NMR)技术得出原料木素结构谱图,对原料木素结构中脂肪羟基、总酚羟基和羧基以及总酚羟基中各酚羟基等功能基团进行定量分析对比。对三倍体毛白杨原料木素结构有了更全面了解。  相似文献

In this paper, we address the architecture and the procedures that can enable voice call handover from UMTS to WLAN and we also study how efficiently the WLAN can support the voice calls transferred from UMTS. Our study is based on a practical simulation model that lets us quantify the maximum number of voice calls that can be handed over from UMTS to WLAN, subject to maintaining the same level of UMTS QoS and respecting some WLAN policies. In addition, several other voice call performance metrics are derived. Our results indicate that an IEEE 802.11e access point can support a limited number of voice calls handed over from UMTS, which depends primarily on the applied WLAN bandwidth sharing policy (i.e., how the bandwidth is shared between WLAN voice and data users) and the QoS requirements. The performance of the WLAN scheduling algorithm is also of paramount importance and in our study we consider the so‐called ARROW scheduler. Although the simulation results are derived for a specific bandwidth sharing policy, they can readily be scaled and provide practical upper bounds for the number of UMTS voice calls that can be seamlessly admitted to a WLAN access point. A high‐order layerwise finite element methodology is presented, which enables prediction of the damped dynamic characteristics of thick composite and sandwich composite plates. The through‐thickness displacement field in each discrete layer of the laminate includes quadratic and cubic polynomial distributions of the in‐plane displacements, in addition to the linear approximations assumed by linear layerwise theories. Stiffness, mass and damping matrices are formulated from ply to structural level. Interlaminar shear stress compatibility conditions are imposed on the discrete layer matrices, leading to both size reduction and prediction of interlaminar shear stresses at the laminate interfaces. The C1 continuous finite element implemented yields an element damping matrix in addition to element stiffness and mass matrices. Application cases include thick [0/90/0], [±θ]S and [±θ] composite plates with interlaminar damping layers and sandwich plates with composite faces and foam core. A stand-alone power system based on a photovoltaic array and wind generators that stores the excessive energy from renewable energy sources (RES) in the form of hydrogen via water electrolysis for future use in a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell is currently in operation at Neo Olvio of Xanthi, Greece. Efficient power management strategies (PMSs) for the system have been developed. The PMSs have been assessed on their capacity to meet the power load requirements through effective utilization of the electrolyzer and fuel cell under variable energy generation from RES (solar and wind). The evaluation of the PMS has been performed through simulated experiments with anticipated conditions over a typical four-month time period for the region of installation. The key decision factors for the PMSs are the level of the power provided by the RES and the state of charge (SOC) of the accumulator. Therefore, the operating policies for the hydrogen production via water electrolysis and the hydrogen consumption at the fuel cell depend on the excess or shortage of power from the RES and the level of SOC. A parametric sensitivity analysis investigates the influence of major operating variables for the PMSs such as the minimum SOC level and the operating characteristics of the electrolyzer and the fuel cell in the performance of the integrated system.  相似文献

An integrated system for hydrogen production via autothermal steam reforming of methanol and consequent power generation in a polymer electrolyte membrane (PEM) fuel cell has been developed and operated at C.P.E.R.I. The pilot plant comprises an autothermal reforming reactor to produce hydrogen, a preferential oxidation reactor (PROX) to reduce CO concentration below 50 ppm and a PEM fuel cell for power generation.The present paper deals with the study of this system, both from an experimental and a theoretical point of view. The experimental work aims to: (a) examine the effect of the reforming temperature on methanol conversion and on the effluent stream concentration, (b) investigate the effect of reaction temperature and O2/CO ratio on the performance of the PROX reactor, and (c) evaluate the operation of a 10-cell PEM fuel cell, using pure hydrogen and air at three temperature levels. The experimental data are subsequently utilized for the validation of one-dimensional pseudo-homogeneous models that have been developed for the two reactors and also for the identification of the voltage–current characteristic curve of the PEM fuel cell. The validated models are then used to investigate the behavior and explore the interactions, both static and dynamic, among the various process subsystems.  相似文献
